The first night of the outing Pres arrived. Buzzard arrived sometime thereafter to pick him up. We headed over to the Brew Pub for some delicious brew and President's Night. We took it easy, knowing there was a long weekend of overindulging ahead of us. Afterward, we headed back to Buzzards hacienda to catch up on old times. The next day we picked up Master Hunter and Greenhorn at the airport. Master Hunter was the first to arrive. We had some tie to kill before Greenhorn was due to arrive, so we headed back over to the Brew Pub to partake in a few more samples of the local refreshments. After we got Greenhorn, we headed back to Buzzards to store our gear and start THE GAMES OF MEN...
with a friendly dart competition.
After the dart competition, the annual SHC meeting took place. President called the 6th SHC Meeting to Order. Roll call was taken and identification cards provided. A special honorarium and toast was given to Master Hunter for having a spotless attendance record. beer (6K) After a briefing of last years meeting's minutes, Master Hunter and current SOTY holder was then asked for a summary of this years competition. He described that this years competition would include the previous years outdoorsmen's performance as well as the weekends Games of Men events. He then added that this years Games of Men competition would include fishing, darts, bowling, eukre and of course poker. After the SOTY competition summary, it was time for any new business. A motion was given to update the bylaws on SOTY Championship voting and scoring. After thorough discussion, the motion was approved. See SOTY page for more details. After the meeting, we were off to test our man-game skills at the bowling alley.


We were up early and off to meet our captain and first mate. The weather was a bit chilly and the waters in the bay a little rough. It soon warmed up and the seas calmed down by the time sun (5K) we started fishing. We were after big rockbass or stripers. In order to land big stripers trolling was the best method. It was opening day in Maryland. We got one hit early and Buzz went for the pole and either lost him or he got off. A short time later, "Fish On!!". Pres was at the helm. "ZZZZZZZZZZ" the drag went out and the fish jumped once or twice. Pres did a masterfull job on the fish and landed him soon afterward.


The fishing was slow the rest of the morning, the SHC brethren enjoyed the beautiful weather and company. The beer was flowing and we even had a chance to play eukre while we waited for the big one to arrive. After lunch, we headed back to the dock where Pres cleaned his fish. That evening we took it easy because we had a late night and an early morning, and mostly because we are turning into old farts.

The next morning we were up early again back out fishing. Another perfect day on the water. It was a bit brisk early with fog rolling off the water and then warmed up soon after day break. The fishing started a bit slow and then "ZZZZZZZZZ, FISH ON". Greenhorn was at the helm. He started cussing up a storm. Because he could not bring the fish in. We all asked if he needed help. "I cant real him in ZZZZZZZZZZ more drag was going out" We all thought it was a record fish the way he was fighting this thing. After a long, long while he finally brought the monster in. But it wasn't one big striper it was two stripers on the same line.




The rest of the day we drank, played cards and simply enjoyed the day. Once, back at the dock Greenhorn let the 1st mate clean his fish. We drank a couple more beers while waiting for the fish to be cleaned. While Big Red was chasing of the ducks, A few members got a lesson in oyster management and developement.

We ate fresh fish that night and had plenty of leftovers for Buzzard. Pres made deer chili while Buzz fried the fish. We had a great dinner!! We had some whiskey after dinner, Buzzard presented shirts to everyone, and then the
Big Poker Game. Because Greenhorn had caught the largest fish and had performed well so far in the Games of Men, He had a chance to win the SOTY, if he could only win at the poker table, the pressure was on.

Lots of money changed hands this year. The longer the game went on the Drunker Greenhorn got. Buzzard was the overall game winner. After the game it was time to present the 2004 SOTY. Master Hunter was the presenter. After the votes were tallied, it was "Greenhorn??" who took the trophy, now he will forever be know as "Greenstorm". Greenstorm was in a daze. Pres was again close in the runnning and had this to say. "He deserves it, hickup, hickup. If it wasn't for that damn Indian Joe game, I might of had a chance"
